What it is
A website built for the Al-Anon and Alateen Family Groups in Ottawa (District 28). The site states Al-Anon’s purpose in its own words: “a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics” whose “one purpose” is “to help families of alcoholics.”
The site
- Meetings — a meeting list with a map view, plus online (Zoom, telephone) and in-person options, with details for each Ottawa-area group.
- About / About Alateen — introductory information and resources.
- Service & outreach — service meetings, roles and opportunities.
- Literature & notices — conference-approved literature and printable meeting lists.
The design intervention
For a service like this, the most important job is clarity under stress: someone looking for a meeting should find the right one — by place, time or format — in seconds. The design puts the meeting finder front and centre.
The technology selected
WordPress, with a meeting-list system (the “12 Step Meeting List” plugin) powering the map and filterable listings.
TODO(founder): confirm scope and role. This case study implies no personal affiliation with Al-Anon.
